Then, as the push for his self-titled debut album started, none of his follow-up songs captured the same audience imagination. He scored three top-ten singles with Trap Queen, My Way and 679 all before there was any hint of an album coming his way. New Jersey-based Fetty Wap saw the same album issues. He summed up his own success on the thunderous I Serve Base from DS2, rapping: “They tried to make me a pop star and they made a monster.” Turns out fans wanted the monster all along. All logic mixtapes cd free# Lil Wayne, after his great mid-2000s mixtape run, achieved a similar moment of success with Tha Carter III, but where Wayne got to number one song (Lollipop) in the lead-in to the album, Future’s rebuilt his buzz purely through free tapes. Though he did put out a major label release, his mixtapes were what reestablished his place in the rap zeitgeist. He dropped his pop sensibilities and still scored a #1 album, DS2. Beast Mode, released in January, and 56 Nights, from March, put him back in his streets-first comfort zone. But before the mainstream caught up, Future’s career was based on mixtapes like True Story and Streetz Calling rather than the crossover hits. The Atlanta-based rapper found mainstream success with the release of his debut album, Pluto, and numerous high profile guest spots. Then there was the other half of the What a Time To Be Alive pair: Future. The absence of that five letter word provides artistic freedom The mixtape became the first project in 2015 to go platinum. The project was originally going to be a true online mixtape, but Cash Money Records, Drake’s label, did not allow for such a charitable gift and instead charged $12.99. Then when hints were dropped that he was going to put out a new project in 2015 it was assumed it was going to be Views From The Six, but instead he released If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late. Late last year it was leaked that Drake’s follow-up to his 2013 album, Nothing Was The Same, was to be Views From The Six. The tussle between rappers and their labels has been going on for decades, but the balance shifted in the 2000s when rappers began to release their own music online. And the absence of that five letter word provides artistic freedom, and fans with more music that’s often free. The project can contain all of the effort one might put into an album, but just arrive short to receive the official title. Rappers appear often on a constant grind promoting their next album – even if its release date has been “TBA” for years, as in the case with Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter V – but the simple change of phrase to “mixtape” provides an out. That slight distinction of titles is what’s driven much of rap in 2015. 1 is truly the start of something unexpected and thrilling. The project’s spontaneity – it was recorded in under a week in Atlanta – allowed for the mixtape, not an album, to be released so quickly. It’s an album I’d been planning for years and what I believe to be the perfect farewell.” Luckily for devotees of the MC’s cerebral lyrics and playful sense of humor, No Pressure was less of a send-off than the beginning of a new era in which Logic has removed expectations and stress from his career. “And most important it is an album that is strictly for fans of hip-hop music. It is a culmination of all the things I’ve learned mentally, spiritually and technically,” said Logic in a statement. With additional production from 6IX, No Pressure found the GRAMMY-nominated, multi-platinum artist getting back to his roots and making the music that he loves with “no pressure.” The acclaimed producer not only helmed Logic’s groundbreaking 2014 debut, Under Pressure but also signed the young artist to Def Jam. No Pressure, the 15-track album, marks a full-circle moment for the artist, who reunited in the studio with No I.D. 1, and what is presumably the album’s lead single, “Intro,” mark his first music since his non-farewell LP, 2020’s No Pressure. (June 16,2021) ― The following statement was released today by Logic, through his attorney Paul Rothenberg Partner of Rothenberg, Mohr & Binder, LLP located in NYC, in response to questions about his future career plans: ‘I’m back.’”įans of the MC are thrilled to learn that the short-lived retirement was only a brief hiatus. The letter was sent from Logic’s attorney and said, “WASHINGTON, DC.
